Baby Girl- 20 Weeks

Add caption

Typing this is almost a dream to me. I feel like I should wake up any second now, because I can't even believe this is actually MY pregnancy post!! You all know Chase and I have been patiently (kinda) waiting for the day we get to be pregnant, and go to doctors appointments, and start a nursery, and register, and argue over names. It's a WONDERFUL thing to know our time is finally now after almost two years of waiting. I almost don't feel qualified yet to be talking about my pregnancy and asking questions because it's still that unreal to me. But it's SO real, and I'd like to share my journey thus far. I mean, we are half way….

I'll back it up to before we even conceived.
Basically, lot's of doctor visits. Every month when I was unpleasantly reminded that I wasn't pregnant, I'd have to go in to get checked. Consisted of me getting my ovaries checked, blood drawn, and hearing the same thing, "let's do another round of clomid, things are looking hopeful". Every month when that wouldn't work I had to go back and sit in a waiting room full of pregnant woman, while I was wishing I was one of them. After a certain amount of rounds of clomid, I took a two month break. Emotionally after pills and visits and ovulation kits I just couldn't handle it anymore. During that break was when we went on vacation and I was able to not have to focus on it for awhile. When I decided I wanted to go back and try again they put me on clomid one last time. Didn't work. FINALLY, and I don't know why it took so long for them to let me do this, they scheduled me to get my tubes flushed and start on a different fertility pill. The procedure was painful, but nothing I hadn't experienced before through period cramping, and checked for any signs of cists, blockage, abnormalities, the whole enchilada. After the procedure they told me one of my tubes was clogged, and was cleared from the flushing, and there was nothing else to worry about. My uterus was shaped differently but nothing that would prevent me from getting pregnant. So with that, I continued on my new pill, did the baby making stuff and waited the dreaded two weeks to see if that dreaded period would come. It didn't. By day 28 of my cycle it still hadn't come. Even though I was getting anxious and excited my doctor told me I should wait to take a test until day 35. If my period hadn't come by then, that was a very very good thing! Well, I am finally happy to say it never came! The test was positive, and Chase and I were so very very happy. With all that said, I am almost 20 weeks along with a healthy baby girl, and for those who like to know the little updates here is mine so far!

Total Weight Gain: Probably 1,000 pounds but who's counting? But really, in all seriousness, I never kept track of my weight before baby, and I don't do it now. I basically just close my eyes every time I get weighed now. As long as my doctor says baby is growing and healthy, that's all that matters to me.

Cravings: No specific cravings. My first trimester I lived off of carbs because that's all my body would allow me to look at without feeling more nauseous than I already was. Now since I've been feeling better, I can feed my babe a more nutritious meal without wanting to puke. If something like let's say Funyuns crossed my mind, they wouldn't leave until I ate some. That pretty much went for anything. I can control that a little better now though thank goodness. And I guess the foods I can't really have are the things I want most. SUSHI being the top one. Let's just say that'll be the first meal I have when I leave the hospital. Luckily, this baby girl is so worth it!

Feeling: First trimester was hard. Could've been worse, but could've been better. Every day for me was constant nausea and headaches. I was tired, I was bloated, and I really would've rather thrown up then have that constant feeling and not being able to let it out. Being in the second trimester however really is like night and day!! Everyone told me to just wait, it's like flipping off a switch, and boy were they right! I have more energy, and actually want to socialize now.

Sleep: I pretty much sleep a solid 10 hours almost every night. I go to bed early and I wake up early. The first trimester I oddly woke up more (3-4 times) due to bathroom breaks, now at most I wake up twice to go. I do however wake up every time I flip over to my other side. I've also had a few uncomfortable nights due to numbness on both of my hips. Other than that I've always been a good sleeper and enjoyed my sleep, and I hope to continue that as long as possible!

Maternity clothes: Need them! Since I'm a personal trainer though I just live in sweats or comfy leggings, and loose shirts and sweatshirts. When I want (or need) to look nice I just wear a cute loose fitting shirt, and throw on some leggings. They definitely feel uncomfortable when I sit down, so if I can pull them over my belly I do that, otherwise I roll them down far enough to where it's probably not appropriate anymore. Maybe that really means it's time for me to invest in some maternity pants.

Movement: Baby Girl decided she wanted me to start feeling her for reals last week. I remember the "official" first time, I was laying in bed watching a show with Chase, when I totally felt her rolling around in there!! It was the coolest and happiest moment ever. From then on, I've felt her every day, mostly throughout the day usually after I've eaten, and sometimes at night while I'm in bed before I go to sleep. It's seriously the MOST AMAZING thing EVER. I want to tear up just typing this. I didn't think I'd be able to feel her so soon, but she must be a strong and active little girl just like her momma ;) A fews times I've literally felt her punch me. I probably could've seen my tummy move if my hand wasn't over it. Even today was a first when I felt her moving while I was on the go, shopping in Costco. It's like she's telling me she loves food just as much as I do hehe.

Best Experiences: So far my favorite experience has truly been all of it! Yes, even the first trimester. Knowing that a miracle had taken place and my body was doing the things it was supposed to made it all worth it to me. It kept me at peace every day knowing I was sick for a reason. I also love when Chase has love flashes for her. Not that he needed to, but it proves to me what an amazing father he will be to her, and how much he already loves her. He actually wants to go baby registering with me! Let's just say he was not excited for that when we needed to do it for our wedding haha. Planning her nursery has also been an exciting experience. And once we finish, which will hopefully be within the next month, I'll DEFINITELY have it up on my blog!! Her room is going to be the coolest in our home. All in all, feeling her move is my top favorite so far. I absolutely can't wait for Chase to be able to feel her when she moves more often!

We both feel so extremely blessed. This little girl is changing our lives and she's not even here yet. I never thought I could feel this kind of a love for someone so small and so precious. We pray for her every day and thank our Father in Heaven for sending us such a special gift. Loving this sweet journey.

~Life since my last post~

Anyone who knows me knows I am not a writer, nor do I really like to write. That's my excuse for a year and a half of not using my little blog. However I love reading all the other bloggers updates on their lives and thought it was time to share mine again! Most of my family and friends live another state away so it's probably something I should update regularly. So with that said, a lot has happened in over a year!! Our life has been different but it's really the same. (If that makes sense) I'll share our unforgettable adventures instead of a boring year long update. So here it is:

-Lots of fun trips!!
Chase and I decided while it was easy (childless) we would travel and go on adventures together! Lots of mini trips, a few bigger vacations and so many memories! Let's see if I can even remember in order where we've been this last year and a half.

Disney Land- We thought it would be so fun to try and go back to DL every April to celebrate the time of our engagement. Chase and I both LOVE Disney! If you don't, you have no soul...anyways, back in April of 2013 we did our one year engagement trip! We met up with some of my family including my sister, and it was so fun! My cousins introduced us to "pin collecting" and we've been hooked since. We pretty much only want to go back for that reason.

Hawaii- Back in September of 2013-Chase planned the trip for our one year anniversary and it was amazing! My first time ever. We went to Oahu and played in the sun for a week along with two of our friends Dani and James, who actually planned the trip separately but ended up there at the same time!

Disneyland of course-I believe the following April we flew down to Cali with our brother Travis and his "then" GF Rachel to see our good friends Adam and Liz for Adams big 30! We all stayed in a beach house right on the sand and enjoyed the beach, the San Diego Zoo, and my favorite,
Disneyland(for our two year engagement anniversary)!!! It was such a fun trip! Also, that's when Travis and Rachel finally got engaged! Such a special memory.

Caribbean Cruise- Later towards the end of the summer I believe late July, we went on a cruise with our new and fun neighbors Tryg and Shelby. I believe it was a Western cruise that included Aruba, La Romana, CuraƧao, and Grand Turk. It was SO much fun! We really got to know our now close friends, and had quite the adventure on those islands. Ocean jet skiing and fly boarding being some of them. And we ate a lot of food…I pretty much look forward to dinner every day.

Hawaii, again- Going to Hawaii this last November was a spur of the moment trip! Chase had a couple guys to meet with from BYU there, and thought why not make a vacation out of it!? So I tagged along and it was a very special trip for just the two of us. We swam with sharks, tried to swim with wild dolphins (Chase was able to last time he was there, but I guess they didn't want to see me) and went zip lining!!! We also found out some sweet sweet news we've been longing to find out for a LONG time. Baby news ;)

With those trips of a lifetime (and other mini ones in between) we've grown so much together as companions. Those experiences and memories will always be ours to cherish and will be fun stories to share with our children. We both believe, although it may be different for others, that it was important for us to have that time together without the extra package of children. Although it has been a roller coaster of emotions with trying to start a family, we believe our Father in Heaven knew we needed that time together as well. Which is why his answer to our baby prayers was wait. We needed to struggle through some trials, and then learn and grow from them, before our Heavenly Father felt we were ready. And for that I feel truly blessed, and am thankful he was patient and understanding with my sad yearning heart. Chase and I love each other so much more than the day we got married, and that love keeps growing through all the ups and downs. This life of ours is not perfect, and never will be. But we know it is our duty to grow and nurture our marriage and build a righteous foundation for our future children to grow on. We are so excited to finally embark on this new journey of yes, ups and downs, but with a sweet baby to call our own. We've prayed for her, and we've waited for her. And I now get to experience her sweet spirit and life growing inside me. With these trips of a life time Chase and I got to experience, this girlfriend of ours will be the best yet! I believe now she will bring us even closer together.

With all that said, we still live in our same beautiful home, same wonderful jobs, just living this amazing life together! A few milestones before I finish my post would be Chase's youngest brother coming home off his mission from Florida in November of 2013, and my brother Jacob coming home off his mission from Guatemala last May. Chase's other brother Travis, who married my now sister Rachel last September! And now Jenaca (Chase's sister) and I are pregnant together and it's so fun! I'll share in my next post my pregnancy thus far...
